As part of Aramex’s mission to promote the culture of sports and encourage local student development, Aramex is sponsoring marathon training for 5 teenage students selected from the Nareshwadi Learning Center in India Bombay, which provides educational and extracurricular activities to underprivileged children. With the help of Nareshwadi, Aramex has identified a qualified physical education teacher, to be assigned for marathon coaching and training. The 5 sponsored runners train twice a day, coordinated around their school schedules. Additionally, Aramex has also sponsored more specific physiotherapy training sessions for runners who need help with their peripheral strength. There has also been discussion of sending 3 of the runners to participate in marathons outside of India.
Aramex has also been sponsoring Nareshwadi’s English speaking/reading initiative, which is dedicated to supporting Nareshwadi’s fourth and fifth grade students’ advancement in literacy, particularly for those students with little to no prior formal education. The initiative, which is still in process, has helped to facilitate a 65% improvement in reading for new readers in grades 4 and 5, with most students achieving added value in their reading capabilities thus far.
