Aramex utilizes its logistical expertise and transportation network to aid disaster-afflicted areas and people around the world. The company’s disaster relief teams are well-equipped, experienced and ready to be mobilized on a short notice.
Deliver Hope to Gaza:
During January 2009, Aramex organized an emergency relief campaign in the UAE and Jordan to aid the war-afflicted people in Gaza. Over 600 tones of donated aid supply goods were collected, sorted, packed and delivered to Palestinians families in the Gaza strip.
Majid Al Futtaim Group partnered with Aramex in the campaign by providing collection points at major shopping malls in the UAE including the Mall of the Emirates, Deira City Centre, Ajman City Centre and Sharjah City Centre.
Aramex linked up with the Hashemite Relief Commission in Jordan to deliver urgently needed medical supplies, dry food and blankets to more than 1.5 million Palestinians in the Gaza strip.
Lebanon Aid:
In 2006 Aramex led a successful relief campaign under the slogan “Aid Lebanon with Us” to assist the Lebanese people distressed by war. In which 500 tons of aid material were collected from several countries in the Middle East and delivered to set destinations in Lebanon.
The company set up a relief network throughout the GCC and the Middle East to collect aid donations. Hundreds of drop points were organized in the various Arab cities to gather aid material - ranging from food, through hygiene products such as soap and cleaning fluids, to medical supplies. Additional medical supplies for chronic diseases such as heart ailments and diabetes were contributed. The company’s task force promptly devised an action plan to assemble tons of aid materials from the various collection points and sort them by category. The team packaged these materials and shipped them to the set destination in Lebanon.
Aramex cooperated with a number of companies such as the Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) and Majid Al Futtaim Group in the UAE, and associations namely the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization and the Jordan River Foundation (JRF) and other local and regional civil society organizations to run this successful relief campaign.
Pakistan Earthquake:
Aramex headed a relief aid campaign to assist victims of the 2005 Kashmir Earthquake, which struck South Asia with epicenter in Pakistan, killing over 30,000 people and rendering thousands without shelter.
As part of the relief campaign, Aramex set up locations in Jordan and the UAE as collection points for donated aid. The relief supplies collected included tents, blankets, non-perishable food, water and medicines.
A top-level delegation from Aramex joined the Dubai Airport Emergency Team to Pakistan to coordinate the logistics of arranging the humanitarian aid flying from all over the globe to Islamabad Airport.
Asian Tsunami:
In response to the Tsunami catastrophe that hit South Asia in December 2004, Aramex mobilized its local operations in Sri Lanka as well as flying in Aircrafts carrying aid material into the area in a synchronized effort of emergency assistance.
Local and expatriate communities in the UAE extended their whole-hearted support to the campaign, which saw 40 tons of emergency relief supplies collected in the space of just 48 hours. Many people made their way to the collection points – ENOC, EPPCO, and EMARAT services stations – to contribute.
Aramex shipped out the relief supplies to the affected areas and delivered them to the Red Cross in India and the Ministry of Social Affairs in Sri Lanka.
